Test Lab 014: Apple Pie Liqueur

Test Lab 014: Apple Pie Liqueur

Apple pie belongs at the bar, too.

Travis Hasse’s Original Apple Pie Liqueur first reached shelves in 2008. The producer describes a blend of apples, cinnamon, spices, and neutral grain spirit, bottled at 20% ABV.

For Test Lab 014 on November 18, we’re taking a closer look at how that familiar combination works in cocktails. Cinnamon is easy to pick out. The apple deserves some attention, too: does it suggest fresh fruit, baked filling, or something in between?

Then there’s the rest of the drink. Other ingredients can change how much sweetness, fruit, and spice you notice. We’ll explore that balance through three cocktail tastings, with time to compare notes and talk through the choices behind each one.

This edition features Travis Hasse’s Apple Pie Liqueur, a different bottle from the Death Apple session in October.
